Nearly 100 reggae tunes borrow the bouncing “Bam Bam” riddim that anchors Sister Nancy’s dancehall anthem. The Jamaican queen now resides in Jersey, but she spent the Eighties ruling over dance floors as both DJ and toastmaster general. The “Only Woman DJ With Degree” released her Channel One debut in 1982, the same year Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five delivered “The Message.” More than 30 years later, the fact remains: “A No Any Man Can Test Sister Nancy.”
