He began as a soul-folk crooner, but over the course of his decade-long career, Philadelphia’s Amos Lee shape-shifted into an Americana-styled artist with a distinctive point of view. After 2010’s chart-topping Mission Bell, Lee released Mountains of Sorrow, Rivers of Song toward the end of 2013. Inspired by the legacy of Levon Helm, he continues his devotion to making good music, no matter what it’s called or where it comes from, hoping there’s an audience to respond to his fine-grained melodies. – Jim Caligiuri
