Powell St. John was well-established here by the Sixties, with songs recorded by Janis Joplin and the 13th Floor Elevators, before moving to California and forming Mother Earth with Tracy Nelson. With more recent recordings like Right Track Now in 2005, St. John still mines the rich veins of Texas music with golden elements of rock, folk, blues, and psych.
