Summer Film Classics: The Great Dictator

Not rated, 128 min. Directed by Charles Chaplin., Starring Charles Chaplin, Paulette Goddard and Jack Oakie.

Chaplin plays two roles in his legendary satire of Adolf Hitler, which he also wrote and directed. Released one year before the U.S. entered the war, the film ridicules an enemy that most Americans had not yet accepted as their own. The film also marks Chaplin's first speaking role.
