So definitive in so many ways, Bonnie and Clyde has become a 20th-century touchstone. Wonderful performances accentuate the sharp script by Robert Benton and David Newman, while Arthur Penn's brilliant camera strategies helped fuel a national debate about violence in movies and the inauguration of a new rating system.
