Eastern Fury: The Magic Blade

A forerunner of the wave of wire-fu fantasies of the Nineties, the film features a supernaturally gifted swordsman who wants to be a boxer.

  • The Out of Bounds Comedy Festival

You know about this, right? About the more than 500 performers in 120 shows in the seven days leading up to Labor Day? That's right: improv artists and stand-up comedians and sketch troupes – and some of these performers are of the big-name variety (the writers of Key & Peele, and Saturday Night Live alum Paul Brittain, and Lauren Lapkus from Orange is the New Black, and more); and some of them are from, oh, France and Iceland and Canada and Australia; and many others hail from other parts of the USA; but most of them are homegrown Austinites who kick the kind of comedy ass necessary to appear among the crowded pantheon of talents in this 13th annual festival.
We'd need pages to fill you in on the gorgeous details, so we're suggesting that you go to the OOB website and see what wonders of entertainment are approaching with extreme celerity. At, depending on the night, the Hideout and ColdTowne and The New Movement and the Institution Theatre and the Long Center and the State Theatre and the Velveeta Room and Spider House and Austin Java. Recommended and a half! Aug. 26-Sept. 1. Various venues all over town.
