The latter quality figures prominently in his upbeat solo shows, which showcase both the enduring strengths of his tunes and his ease as an ingratiating live performer. Poison Idea’s self-proclaimed status as Kings of Punk was incendiary shit-talk, but the Portland, Ore., hardcore vets, with their vicious, ultraloud, power-chord terrorism and Jerry A.’s deceptively poetic growl, certainly take top 50 honors. While their 2010 Chaos in Tejas performance found Jerry woozy and worn, he’s looking coherent in new live videos and should be fit to top a bill that features local punk assaulters Krum Bums, Krigblast, and the Bulemics.– Kevin Curtin
