Round Rock Express: The Sandlot

The movie is a grown man's memory of his first, awkward summer in a new neighborhood in 1962 and the importance of baseball as a bonding activity. Director and narrator of the film, David Mickey Evans, will be in attendance to introduce the screening and host a Q&A after the film. Gates open at 6:30pm; bring blankets, but no chairs allowed. Purchase tickets at www.roundrockexpress.com. Read a full review of The Sandlot.

Arts

  • Wintersnow Snowinters

New work by Pat Snow! New work by Matthew John Winters! Yes, it's Snow and Winters here at the start of another triple-digit summer. Technically interesting, naked-eye-level exciting, this explosion of portraits and more in a variety of mediums is so worth seeing, will totally brighten your day with what vivid images are possible right here in the ATX. (Bonus: Grab yourself some perfect eats just down the block, at Sway or Elizabeth Street Cafe or El Chile or Lenoir.) Through July 21.

  • Tao Lin

He's going to be at BookPeople tonight to present his newest book: Taipei. You should text all your friends who read modern fiction, especially if you know they like Tao Lin, and tell them about this. And then you can reserve your tickets for the booksigning portion of the event. (The speaking portion doesn't require tickets.) And then you'll probably join the crowd of people upstairs and maybe tell the author how much you enjoy his work and then, later, you can grab something to eat at a nearby food trailer and tell each other what it was like to see the famous author and what you might remember most about this night in a decade or so. It's recommended. Tue., June 25, 7pm (2013)
