Cinemark Fall Classics: The Great Escape

One of the all-time great action movies also features an all-star international cast. Based on a true incident, the movie tells the story of the biggest attempt by Allied P.O.W.s to escape from a German prison camp. The first half of the movie sets up all the various characters who have to drop their prickly differences and unite to outwit their German captors. Steve McQueen as the "Cooler King" is a genuine classic. Read a full review of The Great Escape.

  • Women & Their Work: Violent Delights

Ann Wood's fantastic art incorporates two- and three-dimensional pieces – entire taxidermied deer, for instance – into a rococo outcropping of landscape that references topiaries, floral bouquets, and pastry decorating. But, note: The death and decay lurking below the surface or hovering nearby is, you might say, more than just the icing on this complex cake. Recommended. Through Nov. 17.
