SXSW Interactive Announces 2013 Programming

Let's talk about sex, statistics, social media, new media, and more.

Okay, "more" is a little vague; if you want clarity, you might consult the tag cloud SXSW generated from accepted PanelPicker sessions. For even further clarity, there's the just-announced Featured Sessions speakers to sift through, touching on topics from 15-minute-orgasms to genetic science and so much noise.

For instance:

Cindy Gallop, who wants to reinvent the way we have sex, and how we watch how we watch other people have it, too, with the beta launch of MakeLoveNotPorn.tv;

orgasmic meditation guru Nicole Daedone (OneTouch: "World Leaders in Orgasm");

The New York Times' David Carr (if new media is a battlefield, Carr's leading the charge);

FiveThirtyEight.com's Nate Silver (The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predictions Fail-but Some Don't), that forecasting machine and, judging by my Facebook feed, something of a nerd-heartthrob, too;

IndieGoGo cofounder Slav Rubin;

teledildonics and carnal technology expert Laura Duncan;

the face of the four-hours-for-the-win brand Timothy Ferriss (The Four-Hour Body, The Four-Hour Work Week);

DNA decoder Sam Kean (The Violinist's Thumb: And Other Lost Tales of Love, War, and Genius, As Written by Our Genetic Code);

and Austin's own John Mackey, co-CEO of Whole Foods and co-author of January title Conscious Capitalism: Liberating the Heroic Spirit of Business.

Call it a surface scratch – there are about 450 more speakers and session titles (most of 'em culled from the PanelPicker submission process) to marvel at. For more on the just-announced SXSW Interactive programming, go here.

The 2013 SXSW Interactive Festival runs March 8-12, 2013.
