For the Out-Of-Towners at the Film Festival

Hint for people attending the film festival - don't just hang around the convention center.

Decoration like this at Dobie is why multiplexes can never be as cool as the small screen art houses.

If you've never been to Austin before, it's really easy to get as far as the Convention Center - and never leave. Maybe you'll wander over to the legendary Alamo Downtown or it's sister site on South Lamar for its fantastic cuisine, or the Paramount because it's an awesome example of a classic picture palace. Can we make a quick suggestion - please make at least one trip up to the Landmark Dobie in Dobie Mall. Not only is it showing some great stuff over the festival, but it also has four of the coolest screens in town. Each one has a different design theme - Egyptian, French Tudor, Gargoyle Gothic and Space-Age Art Deco. Yes, it has gargoyles by the screen.
