Austin's own Texecutioners are acclimating to some elevation this weekend: They are in Broomfield, Colo., for Continental Divide and Conquer, the 2011 Women's Flat Track Derby Association's national tournament.
The 12-team tourney starts today at 3pm Central, but after smashing the Kansas City Roller Warrriors to take the top slot at South-Central regionals, the Texies get a bye until tomorrow morning. However, odds are that they will be scouting today's first bout, as they will be facing the winners out of the Minnesota RollerGirls versus Charm City Roller Girls match-up.

If Texas makes it through that, they face either local heroes the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls, this year's upstarts the Nashville Rollergirls, or the highly-touted Gotham Girls. There is a lot of speculation that the New York wrecking crew could be the team to beat, so if the Texies are serious about bringing the Hydra championship back home, then that could be the bout of the weekend.

It may be a little too late to fly out to Colorado, but you can still join the remaining Texas Rollergirls and other fans tomorrow – Saturday, Nov. 12, 10:30am at the Black Sheep Lodge, 2108 S. Lamar. (Further details on more watch parties as the weekend develops.)

If you want to watch in your jammies, then you can catch the live feed for the entire weekend at Derbyaccess.com: The standard feed is free, but you can upgrade to glorious hi-def for $30.
