The Puerto Rico Islanders got two late headed goals from former Austin Aztex defender
David Horst to beat Mexican giants Toluca, 3-2, Wednesday night in the CONCACAF Champions League, and move to the top of the Group D standings.
The Islanders came back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to earn the upset, with Horst's winner coming off a corner kick in the 90th minute. Puerto Rico still needs at least a draw in their last group stage game, at Olimpia in Honduras on Oct. 20, to advance to the knockout round for the second time in three years. In between, they'll be competing in the USSF Div. 2 playoffs, where they're the eighth seed, and likely to face the Aztex in the first round, Oct. 7 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, and here in Austin's House Park at 7:30pm Sunday, Oct. 10.
