Is there anything more valuable than information?
With the recent widespread hacking of WordPress accounts, persistent cybersecurity legislation in Washington, and Aaron Swartz's tragic suicide in January, hacking is very much on the lips and fingertips of Austinites.
So it's fitting that the InfoSec Southwest conference is going on this weekend at the Austin Convention Center. Lectures are slated to include such topics as cracking corporate passwords, the state of cyber intelligence, and more on malware, DDoS attacks, and crash analysis that sails smoothly over our print-minded brains. But when the keynote speaker Dan Guido is described as "Hacker in Residence, NYU-Poly," you know he's probably on top of things.
Registration is still open for attendees both in advance and on-site ($200), with a $100 discount for student attendees. Visit the InfoSec Southwest website for complete event information, including agenda, lecture details, and registration.
