Tomorrow, the Austin Police Department, Central Texas Harley Davidson, and the Central Texas 100 Club are teaming up to host a free benefit concert for the family of fallen Officer Jaime De Luna-Padron, who was killed on Good Friday in the line of duty.
A memorial motorcycle ride kicks off the day at 9:30am; registration for that begins at 9am, and the riders are expected to return around 1pm. The rest of the day features music by such artists as Andy MacIntyre and Carson Alexander (11am), Pete Benz (2pm), Son de Rey (5pm), and Deek Moore (8pm). Kids can enjoy a petting zoo, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Padron last month became the first Austin Police officer shot and killed in the line of duty since 1978 when he tried to detain a shoplifting suspect at a North Austin Walmart. (See "Officer's Death Hits Home," April 13.)
