No love for the bud?
Believe it: According to The
Daily Beast, Buffalo, New York is more pot-loving than Austin.
Wait...what?
According to the online mag, that is true. They ranked the country's 40 "
highest cities" using data from FBI crime reports of pot-related arrests and drug-use data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to come up with a basic list of high cities – and Austin didn't make the cut. Perhaps this is a good thing? Like, maybe our arrest rate didn't cut it, or the number of people who honestly answered the government's questions about use weren't up to par? (Cities also got extra points if they have a
local NORML chapter, which we do.)
Who knows? But here is one thing that is true: Oxnard, Calif., and Lewiston, Maine, made the cut.
