Is there a more giving time than Halloween? Seemingly not.

Remember The Defuser, winner of Sci-FI network's second season of Who Wants to be a Superhero? In real life, he's the Austin Police Department's mild-mannered Det. Jarrett Crippen, and ever year he runs a Halloween attraction for charity, Scare For A Cure. This year, the cash is going to the Austin Breast Cancer Resource Center

However, there's a challenger in the monstrous form of Lord Vile. The icon of evil has declared a wager. He has his own haunted attraction, the Shadow Vault. He's setting aside half the proceeds of his lair. If over the nights that both attractions are open, more people visit The Defuser, then it goes to Breast Cancer Research. If Lord Vile can lure more people, then the cash goes to NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

If that's not enough, APD officers and Victim Services employees will be busting out to chill your bones with their rendition of the Michael Jackson Thriller dance, 8pm, Oct. 28-30. Yes, you read that right.

So, don't forget, that's Lord Vile's Shadow Vault (Oct. 26-28 and 31) at 510 W. 29th vs Scare for a Cure ( Oct. 26-31) at 700 Dawson Road.
