If I Could Have Chosen …

I would have been born a woman

If I Could Have Chosen …

Tommy Gabel of Against Me! is taking a courageous step in this Friday's issue of Rolling Stone by revealing plans to make the transition into life as a woman. In college, my first photo documentary was on a woman who had made the transition.

I learned of the obstacles she overcame and the day-to-day difficulties she continued to experience being transgender. Super big props to Gabel (taking the name Laura Jane Grace) for taking such a mighty step. I'm proud to have her in my gender.
