This week's LGBT news round-up includes a slice of GOP primary with a side of Santorum sauce. But there's also some deliciously gay wedding cake, a newly out cele-sbian and music from the Scissor Sisters for dessert. Finishing your vegetables has never been so appetizing. Read More | Comment »
Usually after reading or hearing the smarmy spew of Ann Coulter, and in this case in front of an audience of right-of-Log-Cabin gay folks, my own spew starts reinventing itself with words like: barftastic, pisscoultocious, repuggers, OMGOP, etc., but, in this case… Read More | Comment »
Two months ago, I posted a write-up of Anti-Gay California Republican State Senator Roy Ashburn's homo indiscretions.
Nice to see much time doesn't pass before I have the chance to write effectively the same story. Read More | Comment »
So, last night I was flipping through channels, and as I hovered on the Bill O'Reilly Show (which I sometimes watch just to get a feel for how those folks on the right think about things) I heard the word "lesbian." So I put my remote down to see what Bill'ums was sayin' about our people.
Turns out that two high school girls were kicked out of the Wildomar Lutheran School in 2005 for allegedly being lesbians. So the girls sued the school and this week the ruling came down in the school's favor. This should come as no suprise given the Supreme Court's ruling on the infamous gay troopleader case against the Boy Scouts.
Although I can't find a video clip for the segment on O'Reilly's program, I was with him until he said that it was for their own good that they were expelled. O'Reilly protective of lesbians?!?
Then later in the program he went on to slam Beyonce for the "Single Ladies" video!

It was one big grin that crossed my face when I learned of one of Sarah Palin's defense points regarding the RNC's $150,000 habiliment budget (so far) for the veep wannabe:
"My favorite shop is a consignment shop in Anchorage, Alaska, calledOut of the Closet."
And no, this does not speak to my perverted fantasies of a toe-to-toe Rachel Maddow v. Sarah Palin Greco-Roman er, interview.

My son and I were Googling "McCain yells" (don't ask) when we came across this old nugget. No silly, not John McCain, but this now tremendously overplayed clip:
I feel compelled to make a few points.
First of all, relative to his annoyingly nasal speaking voice, John McCain's singing voice is actually quite sweet (almost Ashcroftian). But aside from that pleasant distraction, I cannot believe the gall of this man. Sure, he's among pals, a mess-tent's worth of rockhard-nutsac ex-Charlie killin' He-men, but IS HE REALLY BLOWING AND PICKING HIS NOSE IN FRONT OF A LIVE AUDIENCE? And did he just use that same snot-wiping, booger-emancipating hand to grab the mic???
This is the man 42% of the American people (Gallup, Oct. 10, 2008) want to represent our country to classy dudes like Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, or Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero?
Mercifully, the clip is cut just at the point McCain is digging out some serious old-man eye goo. Read More | 1 Comment »
You know when you've been saying something over and over 'til yer face is blue and no one even listens anymore? (Like, how I scream "9/11 was an inside job" cruising past the two protestors in front of the capitol.) Yeah. Well, it feels like winning the gay lotto this week. The media's wearing purple.
I'm really not a fan of grave pissing, but for most of his life, Jesse Helms was pretty mean. The five-term senator from North Carolina and standard bearer for the right-wing revolution has died at the age of 86. Repubs are having a field day with the fact he died on the 4th of July. (He died, people, he wasn't born on it )
Helms really wasn't a big fan of teh gay. He did, however eventually soften towards the AIDS issue and became quite active in providing funding for the crisis overseas, especially in Africa. Read More | Comment »
Ellen and John sittin' in a tree, agreein' to respectfully dis-a-gree. (After you click, read under the video. Think Progress takes issue with the assumed Republican nominee's pandering.)
The FBI finally put the mad thump on U.S. Special Counsel Scott Bloch's office today, with a DC grand jury issuing subpoenas for Bloch and a number of OSC employees. His name sound familiar? Well, it should. Since Bloch was appointed by Bush in 2004, the watchdog office charged with protecting federal whistle-blowers has been soaking in controversial allegations of partisan favoritism, homophobic agendas, and political bullying. You know when you leave the bathroom with a trail of TP stuck to your shoe? Well, I can't seem to shake Larry Craig. The non-re-election seeking Idaho Senator confessed late last month: "It's probably difficult for some to believe, but my wife and I had already decided that I would retire about a year ago." Poor Larry has plenty he can't shake, either. Obviously, he's a victim of (as he says), the "liberal media trying to put down a conservative guy."
Awwwwwww. Well, it should come as no surprise to find him moonlighting as a poster boy for a New Orleans' designer, GoGo Jewelry. (I just about fell over when I saw this card in the window of the Magazine Street shop, and just had to share.)
Oh, wait, that's not Craig; the model in the ad is wearing his telltale wedding band on his right hand Besides, Craig is a discriminating fella. He'd never tap feet with a guy in white socks and Skechers. Read More | Comment »
Recently Messer passed me this trailer for a right-wing anti-gay propaganda video, entitled They're Coming to Your Town. Who's "They?"
We are. Fudgin' Homos.
Highlighted by a story in Eureka Springs, AR, in which the city council did in fact have gay people on it, who did, in fact, have opinions about same-sex legislation and thus, voted thusly. Sally Kern got all agro about it, (and not even a slap on the wrist for calling gays worse than terrorism, shit!) and now the American Family Association has made a video "perfect for Sunday schools," only $14.95 (save over 33% if you order five!) so you can have your own copy to "Watch and learn," says the trailer, "how to fight a well-organized gay agenda to take over the cities of America, one city at a time."
So, watch theirs, to see how crazy real religion can get. Theeeeeen, check a parody and get the dirty right wing stank offa ya. If this doesn't help, we suggest a cold shower and that soap that feels like sandpaper.
Perry is donating the sales to not just the Boy Scouts proper, but, more pointedly, to their legal defense fund, which funds the lawsuits it finds itself in after it kicks out loyal scouts discovered to be homosexual.
"Trustworthy." That's one of their virtues.
One wonders how today's Scouts would deal with their own founder, Lord Baden Powell.
Yeah. So. Remember when you read all about the detrimental social and mental effects of those churchy homo-reform groups on the brainwashed shamed gay X-tians it "saves"? Remember when we read about the psychological disturbance caused by these type of programs, that supposedly could institutionalize the gay right outta ya?
It's almost not even worth reporting these days. We're all so desensitized to it by now. Another week, another right-winger's winger in the news. Republican Florida Rep. Bob Allen was found guilty by jury of soliciting sex in a public restroom.
But, we know this drill. In a few days, he'll resign, or they'll make him resign, and he'll be just another name, another Mark Foley, Larry Craig, another Richard Curtis, out of the headlines as quickly as the Repubs can write the check.
But I wonder, will any of this press be enough to reverse some hypocritical Legislature enforced by representatives later found to be self-hating bathroom homos? Just a thought.
These stories are piling up like… well, piles on a porn star. And don't get us wrong: The more gay Republicans the merrier. We love when big, paunchy, whiteplutocrats get in touch with their inner yin (or at least that sweet spot on their happy gland), we just don't love it when they do everything within their elected power to punish and marginalize folks who do it legally and without a side of denial.
