Olympic Flamers
Carryin' the torch for LGBTQ
By Liz Williams, 12:45PM, Fri. Jul. 27, 2012
There are upwards of 20 out athletes at the London 2012 Olympic games. Here's my top two picks to follow on social media.
Matthew Mitcham, Australia
Event: Diving, 10m Springboard
Age: 24
Matthew has been out since the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he won his first Gold Medal. His first event is on August 10.
He's really active on Facebook and Twitter, so if you want behind the scenes photos and updates on the latest outfits, he's your guy.
Megan Rapinoe, United States
Event: Soccer, Midfielder
Age: 27
Although the USA has Seimone Augustus on the Women's Basketball team, Megan gets the pick for coming out this July, just before the games. Props for that.
The women's soccer team has already won their first game. If you're watching for Megan, just look for a mop of platinum blonde hair streaking towards the goal.
She's most active on Twitter.

And stay tuned to the Gay Place for more torchy madness, because I'll be live-tweeting and blogging from the London 2012 Olympics!
