Music Mo'nday for June 18

It's been oh so quiet on my lil' column, and for that I apologize but, you know: life! Here are some new tunes that tickle my pickle.

"Boom Boom" Rye Rye

Gay Place favorite Rye Rye finally releases her debut album. This single borders on overly sugary but is catchier than V.D. and excites that Nineties fetishist in me. Extra points for the invitation to watch porn with her, though I don't think we like the same kinds.

"Get Free (feat. Amber Coffman)" Major Lazer

It's no secret I'll like anything Diplo puts his hands on, even if it does feature the third most annoying singer in the most overrated, obnoxious indie band in the past few years (Dirty Projectors). This electrocalypso track is a winner due to its feel good vibes and catchy chorus.

"Get a Job" Gossip

My dad and my brother used to sing "get a job" to the tune of some old song that escapes me at the moment. About 10 years later both my bro and I are bums and my dad is gone. When I first heard this I was on the bus to go to my dad's memorial and it made me smile. In this fun new album track, the Gossip finally go full blown electro and Beth Ditto gives you the blunt truth with sass and sticky melodies. The timing for a song like this is strange though. I know people with degrees who can't get basic jobs.

"Her Fantasy" Matthew Dear

Dear continues to delve into the skeezy darkness with this gauzy, slinky humping soundtrack.

"Raindance" Lone

On who knows what mix of substances, I discovered Lone in some strange boy's room at a co-op during a party that just made me feel old; I had to hear more. His new album Galaxy Garden is a cheesy, frenetic smack of android jizz. This is one of many choice cuts.
