East Side King Celebrates 1st Anniversary at Hole in the Wall Dec. 4th

Souvenir t-shirts, food & drink specials while supplies last

As far as Austin chefs go, Paul Qui is about as successful as it gets. The Top Chef winner has been featured in national publications (including Vogue and GQ), and honored as the James Beard Foundation's “Best Chef, Southwest” of 2012 – and that’s just a taste of his seemingly-endless list of accomplishments.

But the Filipino native now has yet another reason to celebrate: His first brick-and-mortar restaurant, East Side King at Hole in the Wall, celebrates a one-year anniversary on Wednesday, Dec. 4th.

To celebrate the milestone, they’re offering free limited edition ESK shirts to the first 50 guests at five o’clock, and offering free desserts (with a food purchase and while supplies last) starting at 11 a.m. They’ll also have drink specials all day.

While chef Qui's other brick-and-mortar eatery, the eponymous Qui, offers pricier, more sophisticated fare, ESK offers pan-Asian cuisine, which includes ramen noodles, pork buns and, of course, their immensely popular beet fries. And despite Qui's impressive credentials, the food is far less expensive than one might expect; most items cost about $5-6, with the most expensive items selling for closer to $10.

Located in the backroom of The Drag’s beloved watering hole and music venue, the Hole in the Wall, ESK can be entered from the back of the building on San Antonio. Considering the popularity of Qui and his restaurants, it won't be surprising if ESK becomes every bit as iconic a Drag destination as the venerable Hole itself.
