It's no secret some folks in the Rosedale neighborhood were concerned this new business from culinary entrepreneur (and talented pastry chef) Sarah McIntosh might cause some parking problems. But based on her concept for the new eatery, Epicerie sounds like the kind of place any lucky neighborhood would welcome with open arms.
McIntosh opened the doors to Epicerie for the first time this morning, featuring a French-inspired selection of groceries such as cheeses, charcuterie,prepared foods, and Easy Tiger breads enhanced by a full complement of coffee drinks and hot beignets all day. Guests are welcome to shop for food to take home or grab a seat and order off the reasonably priced menu ($8-$15.) Look for such Louisiana-French delicacies as Ox-tail with Grits, Red Beans & Rice with Salt & Time kielbasa sausage, a Tri-Tip steak frites, or a Shrimp Po-Boy with pickled green tomatoes. McIntosh says her long-term plans include adding a Sunday brunch and she eventually hopes to be open early mornings for coffee and beignets.
Can't wait to try this place - she had me at beignets!
