Reggae and Jerk Chicken at Gemma Love's

Blast reggae from the open window of your food trailer and you have my full attention. Cook me delicious, hard-to-find-in-Austin food (all while dancing) and my heart is yours. Gem Solomon had me at �Hello, would you like some samples?�

Gemma Love�s Authentic Jamaican Food has been in the parking lot at Crow Bar for less than a month. It is one of many trailers to have a stint at the bar, and we hope this one sticks.

The menu is sweet and simple- jerk chicken, stewed ox tail, curried lamb and chicken, all served with rice, salad, and Jamaican potato salad.

Maybe it�s the Rasta vibe, but I swear the curried chicken smelled like grade-A cheeba. The flavor was bright and I couldn�t stop eating it. I�ve never been to Jamaica, but it was better than the curries I�ve had in other Caribbean countries.

Solomon advertises love and you really can taste it in the 'home cooked' meals she offers, making you feel like you�re a guest in her home rather than drunk on a side street.
