Lucio Mastroberardino from Terredora di Paolo made a quick stop as he rocketed though Texas this week. The Mastroberardino family have invested their collective hearts into proving that their beloved home state of Campania deserves prime consideration among Italian winemaking areas.
It seems everywhere the poor man goes, everyone wants to take him to an Italian restaurant. That's like taking one of us to Italy to go to a Tex-Mex joint. Instead, his friend and traveling companion Dan Redman, CEO of Mosaic Wine Group had us all meet at The BC Tavern for some excellent food, particularly the Steamed Mussels ($12), a perfect match to the Terredora di Paolo Falanghina ($14) Though the Camapnia area is well known for its white wines, they also make magical red called Aglianico and Mastroberardino poured us three different versions, progressively more profound and progressively more expensive. My personal favorite for our hot weather and grilled foods was also the least expensive, the Terredora Di Paola ($14)
